PASSIVE EUTHANASIA: Greek shortage of life-sustaining medical drugs

PASSIVE EUTHANASIA

Greeks dying because of our indifference

With or without a European Union, Greece stands disgracefully alone while the society collapses. The indifference of Europe is appalling and I feel abhorred. The shortage of medical supplies has started to take it´s toil. People with chronic or progessive illnesses cannot get life-sustaining drugs. People with Diabetes or Chronic Inflammatory syndromes, Reuma, Heart and Lung disease et altri will die and this not just another catastrophy head line in a tabloid.

The whole idea of a unified Europe did not, officially at least, rest on military and commercial facilities only. The European Convention on Human Rights which goverend pre EU and which is alleged to be the foundation on which the European Union rests is being violated on all articles and provisions. Who cares? As long as I, we, our nation is doing reasonably fine, what´s the problem? China will have to act and save us. Without us China´s export will die. So China is fully prepared to lend us the money to buy Chinese products. Economy is void of any rationality. Europe is particulary void of intelligent thought.

OPRESSION OR REASON: Swedish severe law enforcement versus religious abuse

OPRESSION OR REASON?

The Swedish Parliament has just passed laws further incriminating arranged marriages between minors of age, no matter the parents´creed or ethnical background. Marriages arranged in another country, while having the habitual residence in Sweden will be considered as a severe criminal offence. Forced marriages, without the consent of one or both parties, will be regarded as a criminal offence. The laws are not new but the repercussions far harder. The penalties have been substantially augmented including five years of imprisonment of the parties who defy the rules and force their children, minors or adults, into marriage. The penalty for infibulation and mutilation of genitalia has been substantially extended. A no tolerance policy has been implemented.

More often than not different laws collide. The Freedom of Expression which is reduced by the law of Defamation, Anti-Racism, or an offence versus a particular social group (derogatory deliberate expressions, verbal or in writing which potentiate Xenophobia, Anti Semitism, Racism, Gender Discrimination or Homophobia) is algeal Gordian knot.

The Freedom of Religion is a complex law: In the provisions based on the European Human Right´s Convention, inter alia, people are guaranteed to practise their ...

CHE FARO SENZA EURIDICE? : Grief that will not heal

 Grief, Rationality and Religion

"Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something and has lost something.”

H. Jackson Brown Junior´s bestselling book Lifés Little Instruction Book (1991) has touched upon the subject of grief, emapthy, compassion as so many before him.

The latter had already been expressed by multitudes of philosophers, authors, poets, ...

DIE YOUNG, LIVE FOREVER: The Dynamics of Legends

DYING YOUNG

The Dynamics of Becoming Legendary

Man´s fascination with untimely death, often in combination with spectacular achievements, beauty and to an extent, innocence is a global phenomenon.

Youth, the unveiled awakening, the mesmerizing expectations for what life may bring stopped short generate a collective grief nursed by the middleaged and the old, the jaded, blasé and disillusioned and remind us of our own mortality. A life wasted or void of social and emotional show stoppers may even potentiate the rational or irrational wish for passing on and to be remembered for the potentials we may once have transcended. A ticket to the Parnassus of the Unforgettables.

The loss of Antinous drove the Emperor Hadrianus to madness, as did the death of the young hero Hyacinthus of the god Appolon. The history books tell us of the losses of the young and beloved from ancient China and Persia to the Bard´s devastatingly emotional ”Romeo and Juliet”and the untimely death of the English Rose, Princess Diana.

Tut´An Chamon has received so much more attention by doing nothing except for dying young than his uncle, Ac´Naton (Echnaton), who litterally transformed Egypt by ordering the death of the timless Amon cult, destroying the god´s temples and statues, possibly the most violent religious reformer in history. At his death his achievements were disregarded ...
